BTP64: How to Go Deeper into Your Soul’s Journey with Tarot Retreats

Tarot retreats

If you’re anything like me, you have a crazy busy schedule. Husband, kids, a house to manage, a business to manage, maybe a job, social commitments; it can be absolutely overwhelming.

And sometimes it can be hard to find the time to devote to my spiritual practice, but when I’m not spending enough time listening to my intuition and getting in touch with that side of myself, I know that everything else will suffer.

That’s when I start to feel like my energy is completely out of alignment and fragmented. Maybe you can relate to that.

So, I got to thinking about this lately and I decided that I wanted to create a way for my Tarot tribe to push pause, get away, and dive deep into their soul’s journey. So in this podcast, I’m going to be talking about four ways that you can go deeper into your soul’s journey with Tarot retreats.

In this podcast episode, you’ll learn:

  • Four ways you can go deeper into your soul’s journey with Tarot retreats
  • How you can create a sacred retreat of your own at home

LOVE FROM LISTENERS

Brigit: Hello and welcome to the Biddy Tarot podcast. I’m so excited to have you here today. Before we get started, I want to share with you a bit of the love from our podcast reviews, which I am incredibly grateful for.

I wanted to share two with you that have come in recently. The first one is from Ms. If, who’s in Canada. And she says, “It doesn’t get better than this. Episodes are well thought out, pleasant and full of useful lessons. You’ll walk away with more knowledge and more confidence as a Tarot reader. Thank you, Brigit, you rock.” Well thank you, Ms. If, that’s a really, really awesome review and I truly appreciate it.

Now, here’s the second one from Jeff Fraley, who is in the U.S., and Jeff writes, “I recently found the Biddy Tarot podcast and I’m absorbing the episodes as quickly as possible. Brigit’s presentations are very well formatted and supremely informative. Her guests are top-notch experts in the Tarot field who lend additional insight into Brigit’s already comprehensive knowledge base.” Aw, thank you. “This podcast will be helpful throughout my Tarot education and well into developing my own professional Tarot business in the future. New to Tarot or a seasoned reader? Do yourself a favour and subscribe to this podcast feed now. I also browsed the website and ordered the three-book bundle from Brigit that is phenomenal to say the very least.”

Now, I did not pay Jeff to say all this beautiful stuff, so a big, big thank you to Jeff for sharing that.

And of course, if you’re enjoying these Biddy Tarot podcasts, I would be absolutely honoured if you could leave a review over on iTunes. It certainly helps to increase a bit of the visibility of this podcast. And you know how cool it would be to have everyone thinking about Tarot, wouldn’t it? So, if you’re up for it, please leave a review on iTunes. I would really appreciate it.

GO DEEPER INTO YOUR SOUL’S JOURNEY WITH TAROT RETREATS

Awesome well, let’s get into today’s podcast.

I don’t know if you get that kind of feeling where it feels like your whole energy is out of your body or in all these little like tiny thousands of pieces. Maybe you can relate to that.

So I got to thinking about this lately and I decided that I wanted to create a way for my Tarot tribe to push pause, get away, and dive deep into their soul’s journey. So in this podcast, I’m going to be talking about four ways that you can go deeper into your soul’s journey with Tarot retreats.

For those who can’t hop on an airplane and get away for several days for a Tarot retreat, wherever that might be, I’m going to share with you how you can create a sacred retreat of your own at home.

MAKE SPACE FOR MAGIC TO HAPPEN

Let’s start with number one.

The first thing you can do is just make space for magic to happen. So again, we are so incredibly busy and I can tell you, every day feels like it’s getting faster and faster.

So even if you’ve got a daily spiritual practice, it’s always good to carve off like a good chunk of time every year to really dive deep. And it can seem like a bit of a sacrifice but it enhances every other area of your life.

For me that kind of gets a little bit intertwined with the business, so every month I have something called CEO day, which means I take a day away from email, away from kind of the fire fighting or you know, deadlines and that kind of thing.

And I use that day to review how’ve we’ve done in the last month. What have we learned? What have we achieved in the business? And on a personal level, what has kind of grown and evolved for me, both as a person and as the CEO of my business? And then I start to look at the month ahead, and I’m taking into account my annual goals and my quarterly goals and thinking okay, given those goals, what do I need to be doing for the month ahead?

Now, of course this is a bit of the, the rational brain coming into play. But, I’ve also got my oracle cards out. I’ve got my crystals. I go through a really nice visualization, a connecting process, an alignment process.

So that by the end of my CEO day, I know that not only have I created a really solid business strategy for the next month, I know that it’s in alignment with my soul and my soul’s purpose. So that’s one thing that I do every month and, believe me, I look at my calendar and I think, “Oh can I not have that this month? Cause I’ve got so many other things on.” But I’m committed; I’m doing it.

The other thing that I like to do is every six months, I have three days away from the family home and I book myself into a little AirBnB, maybe an hour outside of our hometown, Melbourne. I’ll book this AirBnB and set up my own retreat. It’s like a Rarot business planning retreat. And I have got a schedule in place.

And let me share with you some ideas of what you can include for your Tarot retreat. There’s a reflection on the past six to 12 months, using my cards to really set the frame and connect me back into my soul. And then I’ll go through more of a business planning process. I think “Okay, if these are our goals, how are we going to set out to achieve them?”

But I always complete that process with another realignment and connecting with my intuition and soul purpose. As I look at my plan, I’m thinking “Okay, energetically, how am I connecting with this? What am I noticing in my body when I’m reading, oh I want to do a launch every quarter? How does that feel for me?”

And it’s just about leaving that space for your intuition and your soul to talk to you and say hey, this is in alignment or this is not in alignment.  So doing things like that, whether it’s three days away from your family or even if it’s just a work day that you have that’s in the sort of the doing phase.

Or maybe, if you’re happy to separate yourself a little bit more from your business, you might be just thinking, “Right, I just need a personal retreat every six months where I take three days away just to unplug and create that space, the void where we can really dig deep and do go ah, okay, what’s here? What’s inside?”

Cause when you’re so caught up in the day-to-day, you can forget a lot of that stuff and it’s so easy to be so busy that you don’t have to connect in and think, “Oh, you know what? I’m actually feeling this really yuck feeling about stuff.” And, and you sort of throw that feeling to the side.

We know, as intuitive people, that we can’t do that for very long, because our intuition really does start to bug us, when there’s something big coming through.

So when you’re taking the time to pause, clear your mind, connect with your breath and get in tune for an extended period of time with the divine, then magic and miracles can really start to happen in your life. So, get your calendar out right now, and think, “When can I plan a retreat? When can I plan some time for that magic to happen?”

DEVOTE ENERGY TO YOUR TAROT PRACTICE

All right, let’s move onto way number two, and that is to devote some energy to your Tarot practice.

I know that learning Tarot can be overwhelming. And I’m hearing more and more people who are like picking up those Tarot cards and going, “Oh my goodness, no, I can’t do this.” And then, years later they start to connect with them in a different way.

And so, no matter whether you’re a newbie or you’ve got years of experience reading Tarot, there’s always something new to learn and discover with the Tarot cards.

So, taking time every once in a while, to invest in, and accelerate, your Tarot learning can remove the stress out of the process. It’s not very often that you get the opportunity to work directly with other Tarot readers to go deeper into the cards. And yet, when you do this, you walk away with an even deeper insight to enhance your Tarot practice and integrate Tarot into your everyday life.

I really am a strong advocate of dedicating at least five minutes a day to your daily card draw to create this wonderful connection with the cards. However, if you want to take your connection deeper, it’s important to have that time away from the every day, so that you can just sit with your cards and really explore and journal. That’s where the magic happens. It’s not so much when you quickly look at the card and go, “Oh, what does that mean? Okay that means that, all right, I’ve got to hurry up, oh I’ve got another meeting at this time, and so on.” That’s not going to get you to those beautiful deep levels.

It’s more when you can spend an extended period of time just to really devote that energy to your Tarot practice.

CONNECT WITH YOUR TAROT TRIBE

The third way to go deeper into your soul’s journey with Tarot retreats is to connect with your Tarot tribe.

In particular communities around the world, there are communities where it’s just not okay to be reading Tarot. I think that’s insane, but it’s a reality. It is a reality and I know that for some folks, connecting with their tribe locally is nearly impossible. But connecting online with your Tarot tribe, so for example like in the Biddy Tarot community, that can really help to bridge the gap. But, there really is nothing like connecting with like-minded people in person. And these are usually people who are on a similar journey to you and they may not have the same kind of lifestyle.

They may not be the same kind of person as you, but there’s this, you have commonality in terms of the journey that you are traveling and the deeper understanding that you have of one another, and being able to support each other on that journey.

Now I’m thinking of just recently – I had a eight of our Biddy Tarot community members at my home in Melbourne, and we did an all day workshop together. It was a beautiful sacred healing workshop with moving meditation, guided visualization, and some group sharing. Now, when everyone walked through the door, I thought, “Oh, wow, what a like a really unique and diverse group of women.” And then I thought, “I wonder how they’ll get along together,” because they were quite different to one another.

And yet, by the end of that day, you could see this beautiful common thread and on an energetic level, you could feel the cohesion in that group. Because these women were simply holding the space for one another to express, rise up, and be at their highest potential.

And that’s what you need. The more that you can spend time around people who want you to succeed, who want you to step into your fullest potential, you know that’s amazing, the better. And just oh, my goodness, the energy, the dynamic that gets created, particularly in those in-person events, is just crazy good.

So online certainly gets you to one place, but I’ve gotta tell you that in-person energy and dynamic is just divine. Absolutely divine.

So, going on a Tarot retreat where you are connecting with like-minded people, gives you that opportunity to meet your tribe in person. And then the connections and the conversations you have can be life-changing. And I’ve noticed it with other groups where I’ve met people and, even just from the meeting you can feel this soul connection straight away.

And all you needed was that event to bring you two together and then you go, “Yes, we’re so similar and we can relate.” And this person becomes a really important source of inspiration and energy in your life.

So again, just think about that in terms of going on a Retreat with these amazing people who are all wanting to use Tarot in really exciting and special proactive ways.

CREATE YOUR OWN SACRED RETREAT

The last way to go deeper into your soul’s journey with Tarot retreats is to create your very own sacred retreat, either at home or by booking yourself into a resort or an AirBnB. Create your own sacred space.

Now, I think it’s really worthwhile coming up with your own format for your sacred retreat. I know for many, you’re like “Oh my gosh, I don’t know what I would do. I’d probably end up just watching TV or lounging around at the pool.”

So, let me give you a couple of different ideas of what you could incorporate into your sacred retreat. So, for example, you could use meditation and just sit in silence for 20 minutes, whether it’s with your eyes closed or even just looking out over nature.

In fact, the other night I was out for dinner with my husband, and we’re at this beautiful restaurant up in Queensland, and we were sitting out watching over this little pond and there was this water park. It was pumping water and my husband had just gone to the bathroom and so I was sitting there just for a couple of minutes gazing out over this pond, and I’m seeing this water bubbling up and then the ripples were just getting wider and wider.

And those bubbles just started to dissipate and I was looking at this lake thinking, “Oh, okay, I can see how that relates to my life where stuff comes up and it feels really intense and there’s a lot of energy around it, but as time passes, that energy begins to dissipate kind of like those ripples along the water.” And so what might seem like a really stressful moment at that very point in time, a few days later, it can actually be like “Ha, it’s gone.” And all of this came to me in just a couple of minutes as I was sitting there in silence. And that lesson became very relevant in the next few days, because we had some quite stressful and exciting times coming up for us, and I just kept bringing myself back to that lake, that pond.

So, that’s the benefit of just sitting in meditation. And even with your eyes open, just looking at nature and seeing what comes up for you. And just in that moment of meditation, you start to get some very deep intuitive insights. Now, of course with meditation, you can also do guided meditation, and as you know, I’ve got some beautiful guided meditations.

I really love the work of Alana Fairchild. Her guided visualizations are incredibly powerful and on a very deep soul level, just absolutely gorgeous. Now of course, if you are a true Tarot devotee or even if you’re not, you’re just, you can see the the power of Tarot, then you might also want to use Soul Meditations. Soul Meditations are the guided visualizations I’ve created for each of the Major Arcana cards.

Now, if you’re on a retreat and you’re like, “You know what? I really want to learn how to trust my intuition more,” maybe that’s your goal for the retreat. So pull out the High Priestess and meditate with that card. Use Soul Meditations to truly connect you to the essence of that card and then see what comes up for you. Because you’re in touch with your subconscious mind and that’s where some really juicy stuff really comes to light when you get that deep.

So, consider something like Soul Meditations or using other guided visualizations or simply just sitting in silence and seeing what comes to you. That’s just one thing and that could actually fill your whole day, would you believe it? Now, you might want do some other things, like maybe a little bit of yoga. There’s nothing better than just stretching and getting something into your body.

And in fact, something like Yin Yoga would be gorgeous for your own sacred retreat. Yin Yoga is where you’re holding those poses for three to five minutes and it’s such a meditative practice. There’s this beautiful insight that you get as you learn to really surrender and let go like physically as you really lean into those different postures. So a yoga class might be just what you need.

Even consider going out for a hike in the natural environment around you, or a walking meditation followed by some journaling or free-writing. That could be really beautiful to integrate into your sacred retreat. And something like a walk in nature, I find, is great for allowing things to settle.

So, for example, you might spend the morning doing quiet, active work, whether that’s journaling, planning, thinking, or brainstorming. And then after that process you go and take a walk or meditate; you do some kind of the “nothingness” piece and it just allows things to settle in and new insights will come absolutely.

Something I love doing as part of my business planning retreats is before I even start the day, I get out my Sacred Rebels oracle deck, which is absolutely amazing, and I ask: What is the energy that is really holding the space here?

You know, as I’m going to go through this retreat, what’s the energy I need to be thinking about? And that card kind of sets the scene and my state for that retreat. And it holds that sacred space.

You also might want to incorporate something where you are creating a real sacred space. One time when I was at a house that was in the Australian bush somewhere I did a ritual just walking around the house and choosing some different things of that house and putting it together in just a little circle – as a welcoming ritual or a way of just honouring my environment before I started my work. Oh my goodness, it’s just so juicy, there are so many beautiful things that you could do.

Now again, if you’re more into Tarot cards then you might want to do a couple of Tarot spreads as part of your retreat. Something like the New Year Tarot spread could be great or even the Spiritual Compass spread. You can find those in the show notes over at BiddyTarot.com/btp64.

You might even want to schedule your retreat around a new moon. Particularly if you’re thinking about what can you start to manifest in your life. Or, if you’re in more of a releasing phase of your life, you’re letting go, then maybe doing your retreat around a full moon could be the way to go.

Now, the way I love ending my retreats, I will do a closing ceremony in some ways, and that’s just giving thanks and honouring the process I’ve gone through.

But I also like to see like a healer of some kind. So maybe a Reiki practitioner or a massage just to embody that energy back into my body or realign my energy after a session. Or I may even see a psychic or a Tarot reader, just to align with what I’ve discovered over that time.

Or if you want to keep things nice and simple, then finish the day with a nice long healing soak in the bath.

Oh my goodness, so I just want to run off and go and create my own retreat. Now, if you’re thinking “Oh, that sounds so, so delicious,” then I want you to keep an eye out on BiddyTarot.com, because it’s my intention this year to run some Tarot retreats, because I know how healing it is, and how powerful it is to just be able to hold these spaces where we can come together, we can meet our likeminded souls and we can nurture ourselves on this deep soulful and intuitive level.

So keep an eye out on BiddyTarot.com, make sure you sign up for the newsletter. In fact, head on over to BiddyTarot/5ss and you will get the free workbook with the five simple steps to read Tarot with confidence. But you’ll also get notified around when these retreats are coming up. It would be so lovely to see you in those retreats.

All right, well that is it for today. I hope you’ve enjoyed this inspiration and maybe, maybe a retreat is already marked into your calendar!

So, I’m looking forward to connecting with you again very soon and remember you can get the show notes, the transcript of today’s call and the links to those special Tarot spreads over at BiddyTarot.com/btp64. Okay you have a great week and I look forward to connecting with you again very very soon. Thank you and bye for now.
